The Village of Dalton is Accepting Applications for
POLICE CHIEF The successful applicant will oversee and supervise the activities of the department. Applicants must be a proven leader, able to work well independently, possess an expert knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and policies, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The position is full-time, the rate of pay will be based upon experience and the vision that the candidate has for the department.
The responsibilities of the police chief are as follows: Conduct the planning and assignments of programs/police activities; recruiting and retaining appropriate staffing levels; preparing and maintaining records and reports; managing subordinates and investigations; developing and enforcing policies and regulations; planning budgets for police department; create a safe and professional work environment..
Requirements to apply: extensive experience working in a police department with previous supervisory experience preferred; expert knowledge of police methods and practices; excellent knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations; outstanding public speaking ability; analytical thinking ability.
Applicants must be OPOTA certified and up to date on their certification in order to be considered for this position. Applicants must have a good driving record with a valid driver's license and no felony convictions and be of good moral character.
